Feeding Innovation - Stocktaking workshop on a Feed Innovation Toolkit for Livestock in the tropics

Dak Lak, Vietnam

22-24 September 2014

In the past years ILRI and partners have worked on various tools to support better feed interventions in tropical livestock systems. These tools include FEAST - a feed assessment tool, and TechFit - a feed prioritization tool. More recently, work has started on possible ration balancing tools that could be combined with these in some way.

This workshop is sponsored by the CGIAR research programs on livestock and fish and on Humidtropics. Its objectives are:

  1. Critically assess and take stock of progress in developing the tools and products in preparation
  2. Define actions to further develop these tools for use by researchers and practitioners
  3. Contribute to an updated agenda and program of work for the Livestock and Fish flagship on feeds and forages

Visas

Some people have arranged their own visas.

For most people, the visas have been arranged through the ILRI/ICRAF office in Hanoi.

Everyone should anyway receive an 'official approval letter for Vietnam visa'. Once you have this:

1) Print visa letter to paper to use (in black and white is also OK). 2) Prepare 2 passport-sized photos (photos of your face) (4*6cm). 3) Complete the entry and exit form which will save your time at Vietnam Airport to declare it before you get visa stamp. 4) Bring the visa letter with you to the airport and show at the Airlines Office Desk when boarding the plane. 5) Have some money in cash to pay for visa stamp fee (paid by yourself upon arrival at the airport: between 40 and 70 USD depending on nationality)

Local Logistics

Meeting venue and accommodation at: DARUCO hotel 30, Nguyen Chi Thanh street Buon Ma Thuot city, Vietnam

Airport pickups will be made for all people who provided their flight details to Eric (ILRI) or Tassilo (CIAT)

Weather The weather in Central Vietnam is generally warm and moist. Rain protection is advisable as is sunscreen. The nights can be fresh at times.
